Night shift, lakeside branch
Moonmew
A quiet cat assigned to the loudest moon.
Under the Branch
Moonmew reports to the lakeside dock at moonrise and sits beneath the oldest flowering branch. Every falling petal is treated as urgent correspondence. Most lands on the water. One always lands between the ears. Moonmew closes both eyes, keeps the whiskers level, and files nothing until dawn.
Dear Full Moon
Please lower the brightness by one sensible notch. The lake has been shining through supper, and the cherry tree keeps mailing pink notices without postage. I have received every one on my head. The distant pavilion is quiet, the fish are behaving, and I would like six uninterrupted minutes before the next reflection arrives. Respectfully, Moonmew, night attendant.
Moonmew
Keep the moon. Lower the volume.
